The Australian BMX National Championships were held at Knox BMX Club in Victoria. Elite Mens final was taken out by Darren Hawkins (NSW) in extremely wet conditions.
MAY
JUNE
JULY
24th - 26th World BMX Titles held at Glasshouse Sports and Entertainment Centre Melbourne.
AUGUST
SEPTEMBER
OCTOBER
3rd & 4th: State BMX Titles held at Wanneroo BMX Club. First actual year the states were held in October (originally January).
Last year 1997 saw two State Titles in the one year as they changed over to the new schedule.
